Short Bank Fishing Trip (I WILL BE BACK HERE)
Hey Vic, what backing line did you use? was it the same line (Absolute AAA)?
i use cheap ebay lines for backing, no name.. Unless i have leftovers from some other spool..
Was able to pick up the 71 model. Looking forward to fishing with it.
Best size for ultralight fishing?
1000
The weight of 6'2 for this rod almost same with major craft ajido 1g..both 57g correct me if i wrong..
I didnt understand this. Put periods to separate sentences..
@@ifishcatfish sorry for short words asking you sir 😂 already update my question
@@PisangzChannel this rod weighs 58 grams, dont know the other rod...
Hey man, thanks for this great review. I already watched all of your videos with this rod and I was just impressed. My question is, do you know the difference between Carabus Extreme and Carabus Nano? Specifications look similar but handle a bit differently. Is there any other difference that you know? Thanks in advance!
No.. nobody knows such differences as manufacturer keeps them secret
@@ifishcatfish Thanks. Carabus Extreme is not available here but I found Carabus Nano. Do you think it could give a similar experience with Extreme?
@@erhn123 IF the power is the same, then i am CERTAIN it is 98% the same rod. But the Ultralight power got sold out, and the light power feels different.
@@ifishcatfish I found 2 versions of Carabus Nano. 1. CNA-602XULS. 0.3 - 2.5g 2. CNA-612ULS. 0.8 - 4g Does one of them work?
@@erhn123 yes, the UL version should be the same as the rod i reviewed
Что там с рукояткой? Ну бл@дь, Ты ещё тот колхозник.
😊😊
Hi Victor, sorry to bother you again. How does the tip diameter compare to Eradicator 67? Also, how do the guides towards the tip compare in size to the Eradicator? Are they larger diameter? Debating if I really need this rod 🤣
they are very similar in size, but are different materials. Its very easy - if u an find it - get it. But it will be hard, as it is sold out every place that ships internationally. U would have to ask someone in Japan to buy it there and ship it to u
Is there a difference in casting distance between the 2.1lb and 2.3lb ester line? Just ordered it based on your recommendation but they only have 2.3lb in stock. I plan on casting 1/64 and 1/32 bg 1 jigs
yes, goddamit, there IS! Definitely! In the spring when i fish STRICTLY bluegill beds, i use only the 2.1 lb. But the rest of the year i use 2.3 as i get bass and catfish too often..
I absolutely love my 1000SSSPG its so smoooth, It's a real beauty of a reel!! Perfect for Ultralight Fishing!! I also love watching your videos about the 1000SSSPG too. 😍
What leader line are you running these days boss?
4 lb Invizx , or 3 lb Sunline Sniper FC or 2.5 lb Sunline Sniper FC, depending on how thin i need. None of these are designated leader lines though.. just normal fluorocarbon
@@ifishcatfish would you ever run those as the mainline and skip the leader?
@@saleen12 not the Invizx, as its too spongy, but the FC Sniper is fantastic main line
Good job on the video and you have some interesting thoughts. But the proof is in the pudding. How about getting a couple of fish (dead of course) jamming a baited hook in their mouths and pulling the line. I mean it's great to have a theory but how about actually testing it? Maybe we can get that Project Farm guy to make some rubber fish and test it properly. I'd be interested to know what kind of if hook commercial longliners use, I know they use the "No knot" snell but do they use it on a straight shank circle?
This is a demonstration, not a theory. If daiwa, owner and gamakatsu tie their hooks this way, that means a lot more than what some dude does in his basement
I see the sedona saharas have same diameter spool on the 1000 and 2000S size. 42mm, just less line on the 2000S, which is stupid, I prefer more line much more flexible as you can cast more line out when need to, the 2000S would reach all the way to no line and possibly snap and loose all line and hook sinker if I cast little harder.
Sedona-Sahara - good one : ). I used to think that many years ago, but i changed my mind, and so will you, one day. You really don't need more than 100 feet of line when u fish, not 100 meters.. When u fish Ultralight anyway.
@@ifishcatfish i need to cast 3/4oz a few months a year and saltwater bank fishing once a while, further the better. the rest of time is ultra light, so more line is needed. you're on a boat thats why no need to cast far, you gotta think like most fishing ppl who cast from bank and all kinds of fish.
@@user-oc5ry8pp1p 3/4 is WAY TOO MUCH for tiny ultralight gears! I recommend people to go to larger size for lures over 5 gram, and 3/4 is like 20 grams.. Also Sedonna is the worst Sahara, and has no seals for saltwater. I am afraid you need two different reels. One 2500 size Nasci for saltwater and for heavy stuff, and one 1000 size ultralight for freshwater ultralight
@@ifishcatfish i want a do it all reel, so I just bought a sahara 1000
@@user-oc5ry8pp1p i wouldn't cast very many 3/4 oz lures with the sahara..
Hey, will you be making a rod review for the presso 20th anniversary? And is it worth the extra money? I loved my Abu Garcia Real Finesse rod until it broke and I got the AGS Presso based on your advice and I love it but wanted to know if this Presso is worth the investment or if you think I should wait?
Can u even find that rod? I feel guilty recommending such a crazy expensive rod. I don't want to tease people. But for me its totally worth it, even if it sits on the wall the rest of my life. Your presso air ags might be more sensitive that this rod. This rod is not about sensitivity. The blank has some new technology where it bends down all the way to the handle. I often say that, but this one really does. If you are attracted to Sensitivity, you will be disapointed. I love this rod because of the aesthetics, and because of the joy i get fighting fish with it... I will make another video with it these days and talk more about it.
@@ifishcatfish thank you sir 👍🏻
You are pressing down on the piint of the hook pull your finger into the point see what ut does. Thats the way it sets itself into a fishes jaw by pulling into it not down on it
Thanks for the review, and for pointing out the modification you can make to the reel handle to make it more comfortable! I prefer a cork handle with room in front of the reel for my fingers. But at the value of this and some other rods it’s yours and alittle modification makes it a perfect rod! Have an upcoming fun 4th of July holiday with your family!
adding bearings... would it rust easier? as compared to bushings... in saltwater
the one on the main shaft might rust. Its supposed to be protected by the x-protect, but if u splash it, it might rust. And the one under the spool for sure will rust. Not the ceramic bearings inside though. They are completely ceramic, first, and second, they are inside the body, and if u get salt inside the body of the reel, u have bigger problems than your worm gear bearings
Can you please test the UL Spinningreel Kingdom Tegmen
only real fishing brands!
Great video! How do you seal your cork? (What do you use for sealant?)
search my channel or youtube for HOW TO SEAL CORK. I have a video showing all he optoins
Hey Victor! Where can i get a ceramic bearing for my vanquish knob an on the back of my 2500 vanquish worm gear?
i would leave the worm gear of the vanquish alone. I can sell u those, but i recommend not open it. As for the knob, i do have ceramic bearings at my shop. Go to bearings folder: www.ifishtackle.com
How do I buy one?
they are only sold in japan, and kind of sold out currently..
I know this was a little while ago now, but curious if you recall your impressions of fishing the Kestrel and Legalis back to back like that.
Legalis is Legalis - Perfect. Kestrel does not have the same finesse feel, but its significantly lighter, and unless u change back to back with legalis, u don't notice the lower level of finesse feel
Hello, nice review of Presso reel. Can you please suggest what do you prefer between Daiwa Presso reel 1000 or 2000 size or Shimano Soare c2000sspg. Just selling my Vanquish 16’ year. It’s just done its job and is not as good now as it was. Can’t decide now between Presso “luvias” or Soare “vanford” reel. 😅 Thank you 🤝
I honestly cannot pick between these specific reels. Even the colors are the same. They are all amazing. But i think the Soare is cheaper, so i would probably get it for the lower price, but the Presso reels have the lowest resistance of any Daiwa currently and have very consistent quality
@@ifishcatfish ok, got it, thank you for the answer 👍🤝 Need to think 🤔😅
I like the butt! It’s serving its designed purpose of harmlessly being rested on the ground and placed on my belly when fighting a fish. I prefer cork, but the butt on this rod requires nothing additional to protect it.
: ) there you go!
Have you tried purelure’s yannic spinning reel?
Some of the stuff u see is not real companies. They just slap labels on generic chinese reels and put on aliexpress. They have no factory, no spare parts,no nothing. I only review tackle from actual fishing companies.
@@ifishcatfish thanks. They make a pretty good selection of rods though.
If you start having baits I hope you have some kind of pin worm in good colors . 1.5 to 1.8 in. in size .
you, sir, are very close.
You do such a great job, if only I didn’t live so far, I would send you all my tackle to review. I picked up the 24 Daiwa TD Black in 2500C.. Just as an example of tackle I would send you to have a look at. I put it on the Yamaga 85 BlueCurrent, which is probably a bit heavier than you like to fish, but it was a very enjoyable experience, throwing the little Daiwa Double clutch diver.
thank you sir!
When I was a boy, (60+ years ago), times were hard, and it was common to find men making their own spinning rods from army surplus tank aerials,,,!! Talk about wobbly, !! but fantastic parabolic action, (as far as I can remember,, ) ps, I think the Abu 506 mk2 reel, is fantastic value way above the pice point, imho,, Have you tried one ??,? All the best from across the pond,, 😊
I tried all Abus at the fishing expos , and i will try them again at icast this year. They are nice reels, but in my opinion they are on lower level than daiwa and shimano
@@ifishcatfish I love the closed face 506, it's so nice to use just one handed, without having a bail arm,, ! 😊
What about the shamans stella ?
this is a rod review. I don't understand your question
Great video my Man! I ordered it right away) but you have a mistake in a video, it's called belleza) have a great day!
Corrected
Where did u find it?
@@ifishcatfish I'm ordering directly from Japan, and found it on JDM
Between Yamaga blank blue current and this rod in video which one is better. I understand both rods are different but if i was to buy one which one should i buy first
Just buy both. This one is so cheap. The yamaga blanks is a bigger rod, heavier power. It can be used for larger lures.
@@ifishcatfishI have both, I agree with Victor.
So glad I got this rod for my 21Presso 2000SS-P Currently my favorite rod I will never sell this thing. Thank you for always giving great advice!
i will never sell mine either
Hi Victor, I know you mainly fish UL, but have you ever used weights on the rod butt to balance a rod? If you have, would you ever consider making a video on it?
Once i literally glued a quarter to the butt of a rod. I just glued it with marine glue, thats it : ) I sold that rod. Now i fish pretty much only Japanese rods and i haven't found one that much out of balance that i want to glue quarters to it. A quarter will be enough to make a difference, because its all the way at the end of the rod. But manufacturers test for these things and i would refrain from doing this on rods over $100
@@thomaskong5 great suggestion,, hammer him with it. I’m sure he’d come up with a better idea than anyone else.
Try mavllos plume, the rod taper makes it extremely comfortable
Never heard of such rod. Maybe send it to me for a couple of weeks?
Haven't fished either rod but it looks like the Plume has a much different taper with a thicker butt section and a solid tip.
alright, then maybe don't send it.. that's not my thing..
I highly doubt theyll ever come back in stock but if they do.. Great review!
They were just released! Its a 2024 model. They should make another batch
I love mine. I jumped on it just as soon as I got recon on it. Only thing i added was Eva foam to the openings in the reel seat for comfort. I don’t feel it has affected the sensitivity. I paired it with 2000s-p 23 legalis.
no, that's not where sensitivity comes from .. I bet u can sell it next year for a lot more than u paid for it : ) Like the eradicators..
i have a super corto and i love with my exist sf..going to order some of you jig heads
Great floats! I was wondering if the fixed floats could work with thinner line like .128? Would I have to downsize on the surgical tubing to get the float to stay put?
They will DEFINITELY work! But thin line will get you wrapped up around the guides and other issues. By the way i have spare tubing on the website. You can add one extra piece if need be, but these pieces are TIGHT even without line, so u r good
@@ifishcatfish Order placed, thanks again!
Quit trying to make me spend more money, Victor! 😅 Really, it sounds like an amazing rod. I saw it on a Japanese website about a week ago and thought of you! They should rename it. They can call it "The Victor"! 😁
They should contact me and develop a rod with me. I will help them sell it. But they have goddam US dealers and can't work with me directly
@@ifishcatfish Maybe they could sponsor you?
@@ifishcatfishoh I agree, I’d love a rod designed in tandem by you.
Lol- Victor mentioned it to me and I found it and bought the exact one. It does have a very nice parabolic curve but still enough power to land big trout up to 18" - 22." I primarily use .6 - .8 Varivas super trout braid with 2.5 fluorocarbon 36" - 40" leader. The casting ability is crisp and sharp. Recovery is pretty fast too! I'm using it for trout in NC rivers with micro spoons. It's perfect due to the UL power and parabolic action. I hardly miss any trout at all!
I had my eyes on this rod for a while. Just ordered one from a rakuten japan vendor I used before ... I am going to pair it with my 19 BALLISTIC FW LT 1000S-P spooled with 2.3 lb varivas ester and use it for every sort of lures under 2.5 g: jigs, spoon, crankbait etc. For 2.5g above I'll keep on using my professor 73 All-Range TZ nano. Now I have to carry 3 rods on my paddleboard lol (ie daiwa presso float rig too)
Good job man, its hard to find!
Hey! Have you ever done a review on the new nexave?
